SEO doesn't have to mean an agency retainer or months of work. There are a handful of fixes you can make to your existing content in a single weekend that genuinely move the needle, if you know where to look.
Fix your keywords, not your word count
Most sites don't need more content. They need the content they already have to say the right things. Go through your top pages and check: does the page actually use the words your customers search for, or the words your team uses internally? Add the missing terms naturally, in headings and the first paragraph, not stuffed into a footer.
Rewrite your meta descriptions
Your meta description is the one piece of copy Google shows before anyone clicks. Most businesses either leave it blank (Google will write a worse one for you) or fill it with vague copy that doesn't say what's actually on the page. A good one states the specific benefit, in under 160 characters, and doesn't waste words on filler.
Fix your internal linking
Internal links tell both readers and search engines which pages matter most. Go through your best-performing pages and check: do they link to your other important pages, using descriptive link text? A page with zero internal links pointing to it is effectively invisible to search engines, no matter how good the content is.
Why this works
None of this is complicated. It's the same advice good SEO practitioners have given for a decade. What's changed is how little margin there is for skipping it, not the advice itself.
